"This is an exciting time with our strong lineup of upcoming product releases including Windows 7 and new releases of Windows Live and Windows Mobile. We’re also working hard to transform the PC and Microsoft buying experience at retail by improving the articulation and demonstration of the Microsoft innovation and value proposition so that it’s clear, simple and straightforward for consumers everywhere. David’s unique and diverse background, coupled with his deep retail roots and distribution understanding, will be an invaluable asset in this long-term effort.”
As mentioned by Mr. Turner this seems to be Microsoft next big step in strengthening it's broad customer base. From my experience as Windows consumer(from India)I strongly feel that for general non tech consumers a proper guidance and direction in selection of products is extremely important.Along with we need a right place to go for servicing when in a trouble with software. As of now we have to rely on blogs, user groups and so to say expert friends for this.If not so then there are quarks who are always ready to format and reload Windows.
